If the adventurer did not begin their journey in Ul'dah, they first saw Raubahn during an Echo flashback from the other Alliance leaders, which portrayed the same scene at Carteneau. Following the banquet, Raubahn sent the adventurer as their personal envoy to the other city-states to plan memorial services for the fallen of Carteneau.

Despite wanting to press the battle, he agreed with the other Alliance leaders to call for a retreat. This triggered the adventurer's Echo, causing them to witness a flashback to the Battle of Carteneau. Upon beholding the adventurer's crystal of light, Raubahn compared them to the Warriors of Light who took part in the Battle of Carteneau. He later spoke to the adventurer during the royal banquet, disclosing with them the state of Ul'dah and the sultana's difficulties. If the adventurer began their journey in Ul'dah, they met Raubahn when Nanamo arrived to thank them for reclaiming her royal crown from thieves. By the time of his thirty-seventh nameday, he purchased the Coliseum itself, and by doing so earned himself a place amongst the Syndicate. Raubahn met a young Lalafell named Pipin Tarupin who was sold to slavery to pay his father's debts Raubahn used his prize money to emancipate the lad and acquire legal guardianship. Wielding the ancient bladedancing techniques of Gyr Abania, he won his freedom, the people's love, and a popular title, the 'Bull of Ala Mhigo'.

įor many years thereafter, Raubahn fought as a gladiator upon the bloodsands of the Coliseum. He spent two years as a vagabond before coming to Ul'dah, where he was arrested for suspected espionage and sentenced to the Bloodsands. Raubahn fled westward into the greater Eorzea. When Raubahn was twenty-five, following the sudden Garlean invasion by Gaius van Baelsar after the civil war, his nation fell. Among his earliest combat actions were skirmishes with Garlean patrols on the Ilsabard border. Like many other Ala Mhigans living in the rugged highlands, Raubahn sought a career in military. A young Raubahn and Ilberd Feare attended his speech where he wrote the slogan 'Liberty or Death' on the Aldynn home. During the reign of the tyrant Theodoric, the King of Ruin, the firebrand Curtis Hext once visited Coldhearth to rally others to rebel against the mad king. Raubahn was born in Coldhearth, a hamlet in the Peaks of Gyr Abania.
